Artist's Comments

Oils on canvas
18 x 12"
1999

There are several versions of Hasui's "Evening Snow, Edo River", 1932
A blue, a purple and a green. I wanted this woodblock so much but couldn't afford it.
So, I took the best of what I liked in the various versions and made an oil painting of it.

Thank you very much.

Hasui is one of my favorite artists. He inspires me.

I hope that my own works inspire other artists here.

No. I wish I could have. I didn't know of Hasui when I was in Japan on the way to Vietnam and had no time to look around.
