Wow, pastels. I thought this was done with acrylics or something of that nature.
I love how you've captured the soft lighting. It creates a very nice dreamlike effect.
And the subject is a beautiful and peaceful one.
Very nice job. It is paintings like these that keep me inspired to draw with pastels (I just discovered them this spring.
I love images of kids with books. Maybe it is because of the homeschooling. I love verything from when the kids are young and it is a cozy and quiet parent and child time to when they are older and you know when you see them that they have been transported to another realm. In your painting, she seems to have read something that has sparked her imagination. I think this one is my favorite one so far that you have posted.
Thank you again. There are many of my daughters with books. You may be interested in this one: Over Her Shoulder It's a small watercolor about 6 x 6". I'm trying to get all I want to show on DA before the new year. And then try to offer prints. And that's complicated. I've been reading the directions for how to do it, but it's going to take more study.
I have been thinking about prints in the future too with starting to work in the digital media. Afterall, if you cannot get a physical painting to put on a wall, digital is not nearly so appealing. I came across an animated tutorial on how to submit prints here at DA that you might find helpful. It is at [link]
You may very well jump into prints before I do. I would be very grateful for your feedback as to what you think of the process and the quality. If I get through the process first, I will try to do the same for you if you wish.
