Memento Mori on Pillow with Candle
Oils on canvas
12" (round)
1989

Don't like to show a second-rate photo of one of my paintings. But I didn't have it at my house where I could do it right.

I gave this to my son-in-law years ago and forgot about it. Visiting my daughter and him recently I had to try without a tripod.

Hope you get the idea. The colors are right. Just couldn't hold the camera steady enough for the RAW file--too long to hold the camera steady.

That's bloody good! The style reminds me of the old vanity paintings of the Dutch masters.

How long did it take you to do that? Also, when you say ';paint your skull to perfection', do you mean literally, your skull..? The highlights on the skull are excellent btw :)

Carol,

Thank you very much.

How long? Probably 100+ hours--it's been so long. I have a human skeleton I bought from a Medical supply store back in the 1970's. No, not my skull. Mine still has skin, hair, muscle etc. on it.

Thank you.

And you're right. The world was here first.
