The Composer Robert Tracy Acrylics on canvas 10 x 15" 1983
These are children in our daughter's Montessori School. The little girl in a red jacket, third from the left, is a portrait of our daughter, Heather, now age 35.
The original buyer of this painting is now in a nursing home, nearing 90. His daughter owns the painting and is so good as to bring it by for me to photograph properly.
This is one of my wife's favorites of my paintings. As the owner of the painting will not sell it back to me, I'm going to submit it as a print and buy it for my wife on canvas.
For information on Montessori I provide the following from Wikipedia:
The Montessori method is an educational method for children, based on theories of child development originated by Italian educator Maria Montessori in the late 19th and early 20th century. It is applied primarily in preschool and elementary school settings, though some Montessori high schools exist.
The method is characterized by an emphasis on self-directed activity on the part of the child and clinical observation on the part of the teacher (often called a "director", "directress", or "guide"). It stresses the importance of adapting the child's learning environment to his or her developmental level, and of the role of physical activity in absorbing academic concepts and practical skills.
The childhood that everyone would like to have. (I hope this structure is correct... ) Really really good painting, the colours are just beautiful, and the feeling it gives is very peaceful.
Some years ago, before we Italians started to use Euro, we had the portrait of Maria Montessori on our paper money, but her methods is not so famous. So thank you for giving us some basic inforamtion, I started doing the same with some of my portraits a couple of month ago just putting a link, usually to wikipedia.

This one is one of my wife's favorites, so since we can't get the original back we're going to order it on canvas as the original is on canvas. Never done this. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks again,
Robert

Of course. Maria Montessori was Italian. One of the greatest minds (Oh, but I'm not counting the great visual artists) to come to us from Italy. Her focus was primarily on the developement of the child. For that she was a genius.
Love to have one of those paper money with her on it. Thank you for the tip. I bet my wife can find one on eBay.
Thank you for the compliment.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
