Inspired by something I read by Victor Hugo. I don't find the passage, but think it's in his "Quatrevingt-Treize" or in English "Ninety-Three".

A rough work. Started it years ago and brought it out today to finish--if it is finished.

I found the passage from '93. It is this:

"On the opposite side...a stone bridge with three arches...was attached to the tower....[F]rom a military viewpoint...made the tower almost indefensible. It embellished it and dis-armed it; in gaining an ornament, the tower lost strength."

Oh my....thank you Victor Hugo and Bob...what a combination! This is one of your most dramatic pieces. I love the dawn breaking over the hill. The birds provide such a pleasing movement. I love the naked trees also, but the sky...my the sky, it is as if it keeps echoing if you keep looking at it....it is as if I am intransed. Yes..."it is finished" much to my delight!
