Commenting on my "Train and Caboose", 1976, [link] by DAVIDE [link] he wrote: "The talent was already showing in a huge way then." I mentioned that I can go back even farther, so here two from 1966. I wish I could go back to 1957, when I won a city wide grade school contest on the theme of how drinking your milk is important. My winning entry was a drawing the the large stubby milk truck that delivered our milk in bottles every day. I'll never forget my mom coming to my 5th grade class, knocking at the door. The nuns, my teachers through grades 1 - 8, would normally not permit an intrusion, but made an exception. Let my mom in the room to give me a check for $5.00, the winning prize. And $5.00 was a lot to a little boy way back then. My drawing was shown in the window of Baltimore Men's Shop (Teresa, you'll know) for a week, month....?
But all my childhood drawings are lost.
I have a few drawings preserved from high school. I was called Bob then to distinguish myself from my father who had the same first and middle name. The "Comm." in the signature I believe had to do with an assignment to draw something that an imaginary commercial employer might want.
